- DMD is associated with GI or nutritional complications: weight gain/loss, dietary, fluid or nutrient imbalance, low bone density, swallowing dysfunction and mandibular contracture
- These imbalances can in turn affect the respiratory, skeletal muscle and cardiac systems
Dieticians* should monitor boys with DMD closely to track weight, height and nutritional status, and create a diet plan
Monitoring should take place on the following schedule:

- A physical therapist to design and enact safe exercise programmes
