The International Care Considerations for DMD was compiled in 2010 to provide a baseline set of recommendations for treating DMD, incorporating diagnosis and neuromuscular, rehabilitation, endocrine, gastrointestinal and nutritional management, and implementation of multidisciplinary care

In 2018, the guidelines were updated, including adding guidance on primary care, emergency management and mental health management, endocrine considerations and guidance on transition of care

The multidisciplinary team, engaged by the neuromuscular specialist and coordinated by a care coordinator, have different and important roles and responsibilities in ensuring optimum quality of life for patients living with DMD and their families
