Genetic Counselling

Are you aware of the many benefits genetic counselling can bring to families living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD)? This section outlines five reasons for referring DMD families to a genetic counsellor.

A genetic counsellor can help families by providing education, coordinating diagnostic testing, helping to identify who might be at risk of being a carrier, discussing family planning and offering emotional support.1
